Give a child a new pair of Wellies and they can’t wait to get out there and jump in the puddles.
There’s no stepping gently, no skirting round the edges, no dipping the toe.
It is full fledged abandonment, sheer excitement, joy.
No fear…no doubt. Only trust.
Wet feet are inevitable, and completely acceptable.
Watch an adult wearing Wellingtons, you observe a very different picture.
There is contemplation, trepidation. They step lightly, gently…there is uncertainty.
Cautiously avoiding any movement that may cause water to seep inside.
Watertight. Protected. Safe.
At what point did the objectives change?…When did we decide that we must stay dry at all costs?
I wonder what puddles you’re avoiding in your business for fear of getting wet?
Time to grab your wellies and splash around bit….You know what they say…a little water never hurt anyone;)

Hi Jackie,
Your post makes me think we should remember to let the inner child in us out and go and play.
Unfortunately when people have fear they can only see the obstacles and miss opportunities. They look for guarantees before they take a step which really means they do not do anything and it hurts their business.

I love this Jackie! I’m with Susan here, this makes me want to go out a splash in some puddles. LOL
Oddly enough!!!! and I can’t use the exclamation enough, I was just thinking how I needed to inject some more playfulness in my life last night.
I think the universe has just sent me a little reminder.
Really enjoyed reading this.

Funny how that universe always seems to put in front of us what we need, you just have to learn to pay attention to those subtle whispers.

Hi Susan
Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Agreed. Playing it safe closes you off to learning new things, being open to opportunities.
Protect the downside by all means, but don’t play it too safe…thats my philosophy.

What a fun and thought provoking post Jackie! It makes me want to channel my inner child – throw out all the post-it-notes with to-do’s for today and go outside and play. On those days when I do take a break, I get some of my best inspiration! You’ve just reminded me how much I need to do this.

You’ve brought up something that we all take for granted…that you really need to get away to allow space for creativity to grow.
I know when I take time away, I generally come back with a renewed enthusiasm and more productive.
Glad you enjoyed the post, now..go find some playtime

You are right, we need to get out there and take some risks. Even if we do get wet feet we can always dry out go outside again…unless the puddle is too deep….
