Following on from my last post we were looking at some questions to help you turn the spotlight on your business to make sure that your values and goals are still in alignment with your business operations. So lets continue, shall we?
How many Hours will you put in?
This really is about setting boundaries and harping back to the last question, keeping up your end of the bargain.
If you say you have 25 hours available, then work the 25 hours, don’t say it just because you think it’s what you “should be” working, or because you’re trying to fit someone elses model of how things should work, they won’t be the ones to thank you when you let them down.
If you truly only want to work 10 hours, then fine…own it… and by god commit to it.
Freedom is a funny thing…everyone has their own ideas about how much of it they are willing to give up for the pursuit of the dollar. Define the value of your own time, there are plenty of people out there earning big bucks for little time input, so if you’ve been living in the world where you exchange hours for dollars, it may be time to learn some new strategies.
How do you want to be seen and by who?
You are not here to please everyone, and you never will, what matters is how you impact on those that are important to you, whether they be your clients, industry leaders, family, friends or whoever. They say you teach people how to treat you….well you also teach people how to remember you.
If you want someone to see you as a leader, an innovator then its up to you to make sure that you are doing the things that cause you to be seen that way.
Why does it matter?…because it all comes down to building your brand, creating your centers of influence, and positioning. How people perceive you, what impressions you leave on them and impacting on the right people can pave the way to quicker success.
Look there’s no doubt that you need to be flexible when you’re in business, that means moving with the market and seeking out opportunities as they present. Though while doing that, its important not to loose sight of your core values, mission and vision.
Do yourself and your business a favor, schedule regular check-ins with yourself, staff, clients or customers and that way you can stay centered and focus on simply growing your business.
I would love to get your thoughts on what impacts you the most in your business, make sure to leave me a comment below.
