Creativity…some people got it, some people don’t…..Wrong!
Don’t be so quick to judge yourself or others for that matter. Everyone is born with the ability to innovate and be creative. The box of crayons at school were not limited to those who had potential, they were available to everyone because everybody has potential.
Remember back when you learned how to ride a bike…you fell off right?…probably more than once truth be told. Well its the same with innovation, its a skill, a skill that needs application to become naturally integrated into your life. The more you practice it, the more at ease and comfortable you will feel being in that zone.
Innovation is a funny thing though, its important to follow the beat of your own drum, be unique and not listen to what other people say. Others “well meaning” input can bring more noise than clarity to the situation and trying to make others understand your original ideas can often be a waste of time, and bring far too much negativity into the process.
Original thinkers are just that….ORIGINAL….damn who wudda thunk it eh?
Imagine if the geniuses of days gone by listened to their peers, what progress we might we have missed out on today.
So how do you become more innovative, creative, adored by millions, and rock star cool,
First off you need to make space for the creativity, spend time allowing for some creative think time everyday, no matter what.
Exercise and physical activity can work wonders for clearing and relaxing the mind and allowing you to make different connections within that gorgeous big brain of yours.
When you start giving more time to creative thought, your dreams can begin to uncover some untapped innovation, so pay attention to Mr Sandman.
Define your own style of doing things, work like an artist and go with the flow with the methods that work best for you.
Also don’t think that you need all the bells and whistles before you can be creative. You don’t need a Montblanc to pen your first novel, just as you dont need the most expensive SLR camera to begin your photography project. Nobody cares about the tools, they care about the end result and after all, the true artist reduces his tools as he gets better at his craft, he knows what works and what doesn’t.
Of course you have to love what you are doing too…goes without saying doesn’t it?
Ellen Degeneres once said that if you’re not doing something that you want to do, then you don’t really want to do it. And that’s true.
When you want something bad….real bad, you will be unstoppable, and that’s passion kids…real gut burning, ass kicking passion….and its fabulous to see that in action.
Okay so now your pumped and you’re sitting there just waiting for the inspiration to hit, after all cant start without inspiration to drive the process eh?
There’s problem with inspiration. People see it as something outside themselves….waiting for that mega watt lightbulb to go off, hearing heralds of angels, god help us…..if we all sat around waiting for these things to happen, we’d still be living with bubonic plague and no electricity.
Inspiration speaks to us all the time, its just that you have to learn to listen, ideas often come at the most obscure moments, be prepared, be ready and be open, and for pittys sake have a pen and paper or voice recorder at the ready.
So how about it, you gotta think big to create big, and you owe it to everyone to share your creativity and innovation, so why not start today.
