Do you forget where you put those little snippets of info, quotes, tweets, pics that you compile for your social stream, or upcoming inclusion in a blog post.
I know I do as I’m flitting around the web. Most of the time I try to keep it consistent and file everything in Evernote, but I still do seem to end up with a desktop littered with notepad docs. Pictures can end up in my download file, desktop, phone or god knows where.
Well recently I stumbled across the Gimme Bar a new tool for collecting snippets of what you find round the web.
Its not a bookmarking bar. It actually grabs the text, picture, video, basically whatever you select via drag and drop, and stores it in your own library in a pinterest style layout.
Best part of this is that it backs up to your dropbox….you know what that means don’t you?
Yep, all your clippings, notes, images all in the one handy spot and accessible no matter where you are. You can also back up all your tweets, instagram, pinboard and delicious bookmarks too. Awesome.
It allows you to quickly grab items and add them to your library via a button on your bookmarks toolbar and you can also annotate your clips, tag them, and share them.
The Gimme Bar also gives you the opportunity to save your items as public or private, thereby creating it’s own social platform to view and share other peoples work.
For me its more about using the platform as a curation tool, another social commitment is is the last thing on my agenda at this point.
We all have our preferences for how we like to view and access our information, Gimme Bar provides you with another option for your browsing, collation and sharing.
There’s a free version, which I’m using and also a pro version @ $2/mth the details of what you get for that are a little mysterious at the moment and without knowing what the benefits are, I’ll keep my two bucks in my pocket just now.
I do like how the platform works and its super easy to navigate, why not check it out for yourself and see how you like it. Let me know what you think.

Hi Jackie,
Well, this looks insanely useful!
Will have to check this out, as it could be a huge timesaver. Ha, like you, “another social commitment is the last thing on my agenda at this point.” After I give it a look I’ll let you know what I think.
Thanks, Ma’am!
