There’s a new breed hitting the streets of businessville. The Appreneur.
Appreneurs are the clever people that are responsible for designing and developing program based applications for all these new mobile toys that we have to have.
Note: If you are still thinking of a tablet as something you pop in your mouth to cure what ails you, we need to drag you kicking and screaming into the 21st century….Sheesh where have you been??
For the rest of us…Go on…admit it, you love your apps don’t you?
You’ve probably spent more time on Angry Birds than you have on your morning exercise routine…haven’t you…or maybe that’s just me
ooops
Whether your apps are just for fun, help your productivity, or give you tools for your creative side to blossom, you can’t dispute that apps are here to stay and will be more and more in demand as we move out of desktop mode and become a mobile society.
If you’re in business you can’t ignore the trend towards mobile consumption of information. Techcrunch reported back in early 2011 that the mobile app market is expected to be worth 25 million by 2015.
So today I thought it would be cool to have a chat to Marius Kraemer a real live Appreneur, who gives us a little insight into the app development world and unveils his latest app release Matewire.
Matewire shows you activities that are on right near you, right now! Join other people’s activities and create your own. Whether a friendly outdoor soccer game in the park, an art gallery opening or a trivia night at the local pub tonight – as long as it is near you, you will be able to find it.
Perfect for those moments when you have nothing planned, want to do something and don’t know where to look.
Enjoy the interview. Please share it and leave your thoughts and comments below.
Download Matewire from the iTunes store or on Google Play for Android

Hey Jackie!
I’m a mobile app developer and it really blows my mind when people ask me things like “What is an app?” or “How do apps make money?”
But it’s also funny to watch the older generations figure out this technology.
My business partner for example is 55 years of age, and tech savvier than me
The way to build apps is to make them as intuitive as possible to ensure that people of any age (and of any technical ability) are able to easily use the app.
I love the new term “appreneur” lol pioneered by our good friend Chad Mureta I believe.
Thanks for the post Jackie!
Thanks Logan
It’s funny isn’t it, when we work in this realm, we tend to think that everyone else is on a similar wavelength. I still occasionally hear…what is a blog!
As for apps, they’re still very much in their infancy, but it does make you wonder how we used to get on without them.
Yes you’re right Chad did coin the phrase, and boy doesn’t he have a fascinating story.
Thanks for stopping by.
